What Jitsi is
Jitsi Meet is an open-source video conferencing platform. Participants join a room by URL with no account and no client install, and it does the things people expect: screen sharing, chat, recording, and dial-in if you configure it.
The hosting characteristic that matters is bandwidth, not CPU. Jitsi's video bridge routes streams rather than mixing them, so it forwards a great deal of data without transcoding most of it. A meeting with a dozen video participants moves a lot of traffic, and that — rather than processor load — is what determines how many concurrent meetings a server supports.
The second characteristic is latency sensitivity. Video conferencing degrades visibly with round-trip time, so the server should be near the participants. For a team in India, an Indian region is the difference between a call that feels natural and one where everyone talks over each other.
“Jitsi Meet is a set of Open Source projects which empower users to use and deploy video conferencing platforms with state-of-the-art video quality and features.”

How deployment works
Jitsi Meet is installed with Prosody, Jicofo and the video bridge, behind TLS on your own domain. The bridge needs its UDP port reachable — this is the step that breaks when a firewall is too tight. Bandwidth, not CPU, is usually the limiting factor on concurrent meetings, so watch transfer as well as load.
