What Tally is

Tally Prime is the accounting standard for a very large share of Indian businesses, and it is a Windows desktop application. Running it "on cloud" means running Windows on a server and giving your team remote desktop access to it — not a web version, because there is not one.

That shape is what makes it useful. A single company data file on a server means the accountant, the auditor and the branch office all work on the same books rather than emailing copies of a file and reconciling later. Multi-user Tally on a local network already works this way; a VPS extends it to anyone with an internet connection.

Two things to be clear about. The Tally licence is yours — we host the software, we do not resell it, and you activate your own licence on the instance. And a Windows Server licence applies to the instance itself, which is a real line item that Linux plans do not carry.

Why run Tally on a VPS

One company data file everyone works on, instead of copies being emailed around.

Servers in India, which matters for RDP responsiveness and for data residency.

Nightly encrypted backup of the company file, with retention.

Printer and e-way bill passthrough to local devices over RDP.

Your Tally licence stays yours — we host it, we do not resell it.

How deployment works

Tally Prime is installed on a Windows instance with RDP access configured for your named users, printer redirection enabled and nightly encrypted backup of the company data file. You activate your own Tally licence, which stays yours throughout — we host Tally, we do not resell it. The Windows Server instance licence is free for your first 180 days and yours to arrange after that; it is separate from the Tally licence either way.

It is your server. Tally is installed directly on your VPS or VDS, not inside a container we manage. You get root over SSH, you can install anything alongside it, change its configuration, or remove it entirely. We do not hold a key to it.
